The successful series of HEUFT TeKnowledge seminars will be continued at the beginning of June with an event for food producers and one for drinks producers.

Increased safety and efficiency in the production of food and drink

A new round for HEUFT TeKnowledge: the free series of seminars is continuing with two all day events especially for food and drink producers. Food safety in the production of food in jars will be dealt with in detail on Tuesday 8 June 2010. Strategies and technologies for increased efficiency during the drink filling process will be on the programme a day later.

Preventing recalls:  quality inspection for maximum food safety when filling food into jars - this is the title of the HEUFT TeKnowledge seminar which will commence at 9:30 am on 8 June at the HEUFT factory "Am Wind" in Burgbrohl, Germany.  Renowned expert Jörg Altemeier, Key Customer Manager and Senior Auditor Food of the independent risk management foundation Det Norske Veritas (DNV), will inform his audience about Risks when filling food into jars.  Certification in accordance with food standards such as ISO 22000, IFS and BRC Global Standard for Food Safety in order to guarantee a "good manufacturing practice" constitutes the main emphasis of his lecture besides legal guidelines such as risk analysis and assessment.  Mr Altemeier has extensive auditing experience in all sectors of food production.  Furthermore he is an authorised trainer of IFS auditors, lectures on food standards, HACCP and hygiene and is member of various international work groups such as the European Hygienic Engineering & Design Group.

Empty and full container inspection in the food sector

Specialists from HEUFT will demonstrate how the requirements of these quality assurance standards can be implemented.  Technologies for inspecting empty food containers will become the focus of interest just as solutions for the specific detection of foreign objects in jars of food which have already been filled.  A practical demonstration of the HEUFT eXaminer XA, a radiometric full container inspection, will inform the seminar participants how the latter is achieved with the highest precision.

Increase in efficiency when filling drinks

The second HEUFT TeKnowledge seminar on Wednesday 9 June 2010 Increased efficiency in the bottling hall:  reducing costs and raising productivity is directed towards drinks producers who wish to analyse and improve the efficiency of their filling line with lasting effect.  It also starts at 9:30 am at our production centre in Burgbrohl "Am Wind".  Roland Pahl, Head of the Research Institute for Engineering and Packaging of the VLB (Versuchs- und Lehranstalt für Brauerei - research and educational institute for brewing) in Berlin, will then contribute with Measures for increasing line efficiency when filling drinks.  The scientific work of the professional brewer and biotechnological engineer with the main emphasis on brewing is concentrated on procedural problems, brewing-related process optimisation and the development of new technologies for achieving a higher degree of effectiveness along filling lines.

Line analysis and container flow optimisation

The seminar contributions of our in-house specialists show that HEUFT provides the best available technology in the bottling hall relating to this.  The subjects production data acquisition, line analysis, container flow optimisation, quantifying and efficient fill management are also on the programme in addition to the presentation of the energy-efficient HEUFT beetec a gearless, servo direct drive for conveyors which already caused a sensation at its exhibition debut at the drinktec 2009 exhibition.
